Veedersburg, Ind.—Owen Sampaton Howard, 61, of 1610 S. Marvin Ave., Tucson, Ariz., a former resident of Veedersburg, did at 8:30 pm. Wednesday Sept 11, 1974 at the Tucson Medical Center. He had undergone open-heart surgery and extensive treatment for one month.
  Born May 23, 193, he was the youngest son of the Rev. Charles E. and Verna Wilson Howard. He was a graduate of Veedersburg High in 1932. He worked with the Indiana Condensed Milk Co. of Veedersburg gathering cream in Fountain and Warren Counties.
  On Oct. 27, 1935, he married Dorothy Tignor of Champaign, who survives.
  During World War II he moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn., where he worked for the government in the atomic plant. He later moved to Albuquerque, N. M., and became a plumbing contractor.
  For the last several years, they resided in Tucson where he was employed as a field engineer for the Pima County Sanletat Company.
  He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church where his father was minister for many years.
  Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Sondra) Nelmes of Fort Worth, Tex., and Mrs. Cheryl Dixon of Tucson; a foster daughter, Mrs. O. L. (Josie) Blanchard of Weatherford, Tex.; two brothers, Everett B. and Lawrence W., both of Veedersburg; two sisters, Mrs. C. J. (Ruth) Andrews and Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Adler of Decatur, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
  Two brothers, Russell and Leslie, preceded him in death.
  The body was cremated and memorial services were Friday at the O’Dair Funeral Home in Tucson.-s
